This healthy nut butter smoothie is when I am craving something heavier and need more protein in my diet.

Added bonus is that children love a healthy nut butter smoothie. Even more, when it is a peanut butter one.

I always make sure to buy organic ingredients especially for berries and spinach. For the nut butters, look for organic and as little ingredients as possible.

I’ve mentioned this before – As a busy parent, I honestly love a smoothie for breakfast. I can take it in my car to-go especially when I do not have time to sit down and eat.

Ingredients

1 MEDIUM RIPE BANANA

½ CUP BLUEBERRIES

½ CUP STRAWBERRIES (WITH GREEN STEMS INCLUDED)

2 BIG HANDFULS OF SPINACH

1 HEAPING TABLESPOON OF ORGANIC SIMPLE INGREDIENT NUT BUTTER (I prefer almond, cashew or peanut butter)

1 TEASPOON HEMP SEEDS (great source of magnesium, and contain high levels of Omega-3 and Omega-6 essential fatty acids).

1 TEASPOON CHIA SEEDS (excellent source of fiber and Omega-3 fatty acids)

–PLACE ALL INGREDIENTS IN BLENDER.  BLEND UNTIL SMOOTH. 

–ENJOY FIRST THING IN THE MORNING ON AN EMPTY STOMACH, OR ANYTIME DURING THE DAY).
